July 6, 2006 - Dallas Area Designated as a Federal Resuscitation Research Center

                       In a first of its kind initiative, the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) --working with the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), Defence Research and Development Canada, and the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada -- announces the creation and multi-year funding of a national Resuscitation Outcomes Consortium (ROC), an ambitious federal program to conduct multiple clinical trials that will formally test interventions to improve survival chances from sudden cardiac arrest and trauma.

The mission of the Resuscitation Consortium is to provide infrastructure and project support for clinical trials and other outcome-oriented research in the areas of cardiopulmonary arrest and severe traumatic injury that will rapidly lead to evidence-based change in clinical practice.
